Recommendations SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV)
The objectives of the proposed set of exercises for rehabilitation after intense respiratory infection caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV) are to normalize the function of the external respiratory system, increase the reserves of the respiratory system, rehabilitation to domestic and industrial activities, increase physical performance, improve psycho-emotional state.
During the session, the patient’s response to the physical activity is monitored by heart rate and respiratory rate, blood pressure is measured before and after the procedure. Saturation can be slightly reduced (desaturation) after the procedure of therapeutic gymnastics but it recovers within less than 5 minutes.
Therapeutic gymnastics at the Covid-19 on the Habilect system, in case of preferential lung injury, should be started in the starting position sitting with a support, with exercises for medium and large muscle groups, combined with static and dynamic breathing exercises. Exercises are performed at a slow rate, slowly increase the depth of inhalation and exhalation, do not use exercises with forced and intense inhalation or exhalation, try to avoid delay on both inhalation and exhalation. If the patient has pain, dizziness, or other negative reactions – pause until these reactions are eliminated.
Any therapeutic gymnastics procedure should consist of an initial, main and final stage. At the initial stage of rehabilitation for pneumonia caused by COVID-19, the total number of exercises can be within 10-12, the ratio of special breathing exercises and exercises for training limb muscles is 1:1. Later, it may be changed to 1:2. Therapeutic gymnastics should not be performed when evaluating on a modified Borg scale is 7 or more points.
Diagnosis / purpose | Recovery from an intense respiratory infection caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV) |
Condition severity | <7 (moderately heavy) by the Borg Scale (modified, 10 points) |
Age group | No restrictions |
Habilect application indication | <7 (moderately heavy) by the Borg Scale (modified, 10 points) |
Contraindications for use Habilet | Pain, dizziness or other negative patient reaction |
Course duration | Up to 2 months |
Initial stage. It takes
place in hospital and associated with the beginning of the acute phase of the
disease. It is aimed at prevention of respiratory distress progression,
restoration and maintenance of natural respiration, improvement of lung
drainage function, activation of respiratory muscles, normalization of gas
exchange and other lung tissue functions, as well as prevention of early
complications. (4-6 by the Borg scale).
Main stage. It starts
after the acute period of pneumonia and can take place both in hospital and
ambulatory care. Aimed at restoring normal pulmonary ventilation, the
development of respiratory muscles, provides prevention of respiratory function
reduction, prevention of stagnation, pneumofibrosis and other signs of chronic
lung diseases. (3-4 by the Borg scale).
Final stage. It is aimed
at restoration of respiratory functions, strengthening of respiratory muscles,
improvement of functional condition of respiratory system, prevention of
respiratory diseases, improvement of endurance. (0-3 by the Borg scale)
